Alan was interviewed live on Radio Scotland this morning by Richard Cadey during Fred MacAulay's morning chat show. He was interviewed along with Hugh McNish and Karen Boyd of Forestry Commission Scotland in relation to the benefits of the outdoors to children and adults.

The 'Doon the Wids' photography exhibition was launched this evening within Whitehill Neighbourhood Centre in Hamilton. The exhibition consists of twenty framed images chosen by the children involved in the project which mainly depict the plant and insect life discovered by them during the three outdoor sessions facilitated by Alan and Scott.

Today saw the final woodland session taking place of a very successful program of events involving participants from Glasgow Centre For Inclusive Living. Those involved in the project were either visually impaired or disabled and mostly had never had the opportunity to explore woodlands or be engaged in any activity in a woodland setting.
Alan and Scott structured the sessions in such a way that enabled the participants to experience a number of the activities routinely performed at Forest School, but additionally, they incorporated a digital photography element into the programme to give them the opportunity to record their unique experiences.

The first session of the ‘Doon the Wids’ photography project took place this afternoon in Backmuir Woods, Hamilton.
Eight young people from Universal Connections in Whitehill will work with Scott and Alan to explore and discover the woods and record what they find using the medium of digital photography. The project is part of the Backmuir Woods Regeneration Initiative and is funded jointly by South Lanarkshire Council Countryside and Greenspace and Universal Connections.
As well as teaching photographic skills, the project is designed to encourage the young people to consider both positive and negative aspects of Backmuir Woods.
